Tim Connolly and Ron Racioppo began the Greyhounds Volleyball Championship in 1998.
The tournament name was changed in 1999 to the Can/Am Volleyball Championship.
After many years of playing volleyball and having to travel to other cities who were holding tournaments.
Tim and Ron wanted to encourage people to play here in Toronto.
In 2002 the tournament dates were changed with Montreal to promote Black and Blue and the Montreal volleyball tournament
on the same weekend.
At the same time we changed to the American Thanksgiving Weekend to try to encourage and increase the number of US teams.
This has worked out remarkably well for both tournaments.
In 1998 our 1st tournament began with only 13 teams. We have grown to a total of 30 teams.
Every year Tim and Ron pick a charity and donate monies from the tournament.
We pride ourselves on our Awards at this tournament and spending back into the tournament and on our players.
We welcome all returning players and encourage new players to attend this year's tournament.
Have fun and Good Luck
Tim Connolly
